THORNY ISLAND, by
First Line: Take me back to thorny
Last Line: I would set my sail tonight.
Subject(s): Homesickness; Islands

Take me back to Thorny,
Where the sea tangs reach the sky,
Off the coast of England,
Where the gulls and plovers fly.

The reeds grow tall in Thorny
Above the golden sand;
The water laps its border,
All lush the pasture land.

The houses cluster idly
About a shady green;
The church, built by the Normans,
Stands Gothic and serene.

Give me a ship for Thorny
Just off the Isle of Wight;
My heart cries out for Thorny;
I would set my sail tonight.
