We two sowed this ageratum You and I In our pretty garden where Catbirds sang a varied air. Sunshine crowned your silver hair, Just last spring! We transplanted ageratum You and I To our sunny border-bed. At the pool the grosbeak's red Matched the roses overhead, Just last June! I selected ageratum For you, dear; Took it to your fever-bed, There a prayer and greeting said; Laughed, but went with heart of lead, Yesterday! Now, I cut blue ageratum Calm with grief. With it creamy tulle I plait For the door to indicate That your body lies in state.
