TWO SPRINGS, by CLAUDE WEIMER First Line: The spring a laddie whistled Last Line: The tunes a laddie knew. Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
The spring a laddie whistled To greet the dawn there stirred A wind through the leafy branches, And singing joy was heard. The flowers were jewels of magic With peace on every hand, The spring a laddie whistled Across the hilly land. Another spring; another Resplendent dawn is seen. Once more the birds are singing; Once more the hills are green. But battlefields grow crosses Where last year's flowers grew, And the whistling winds now echo The tunes a laddie knew. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD |
