CLOUDS, by BEULAH WILL First Line: Come with me to wonderland, and in the azure sky Last Line: And back of life's clouds the sun is still shining. Subject(s): Clouds | ||||||||
Come with me to wonderland, and in the azure sky Let your fancy have free reign as the clouds drift by. How slowly they move on a warm summer day; Like feathery billows they toss and they sway. They are constantly changing in shape and design, Now mountains are forming, now flowerets fine. A huge throne whose monarch is wearing a crown Is scarcely built up till it comes tumbling down. And now in a meadow we see flocks of sheep, And off in the distance, mountains rugged and steep. Another time nature is boisterous and gay, And lowering storm clouds rush on their way. They are threatening and dark and fill us with fear, But storms always scatter and soon disappear. How like the clouds our lives are each day, Sometimes thoughtful and solemn -- sometimes happy and gay. Each cloud in the sky has its own silver lining, And back of life's clouds the sun is still shining. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE PRESENCES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE CLOUDHERD'S SONG by ROBERT KELLY THE IMPRESSMENT by WILLIAM MEREDITH THE CLOUDS ABOVE THE OCEAN by STEPHEN DOBYNS THE SACHEM OF THE CLOUDS (A THANKSGIVING LEGEND) by ROBERT FROST A PORTRAIT OF MY ROOF by JAMES GALVIN ABOVE AND WITHIN by DAVID IGNATOW SUNDAY NIGHT by LOUIS UNTERMEYER |
