LOVE NEVER DIES, by MONICA WILLIAMS First Line: Love never dies - she sometimes slips away Last Line: Beyond our thinking and without our ken. Subject(s): Death; Love; May (month); Dead, The | ||||||||
Love never dies -- she sometimes slips away Beyond our thinking and without our ken To little islands where the ills of men Are washed as seaweed on the shore each day, And there she smiles on them and lets them stay Until they breathe her loveliness again. Love never dies -- she sometimes slips away Beyond our thinking and without our ken. If we would hold her close, we must obey Her quaint demands and sometimes even then We wait for her return and question -- when? But she will come when roses bloom in May. Love never dies -- she sometimes slips away Beyond our thinking and without our ken. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A FRIEND KILLED IN THE WAR by ANTHONY HECHT FOR JAMES MERRILL: AN ADIEU by ANTHONY HECHT TARANTULA: OR THE DANCE OF DEATH by ANTHONY HECHT CHAMPS D?ÇÖHONNEUR by ERNEST HEMINGWAY NOTE TO REALITY by TONY HOAGLAND ON HER WEDDING DAY by MONICA WILLIAMS |
