THE CALL OF HOME, by VIDA WILLIAMS First Line: At the hour of setting sun Last Line: When they answer the call of home. Subject(s): Homecoming | ||||||||
At the hour of setting sun There's a time of folding wings When all men hear the call of home And warm to the cheer it brings. The tread of a thousand feet Going a thousand ways -- Each with thoughts of peace and rest Loved ones and happy days. Thousands of hard worn hands, Thousands of weary feet, Thousands with hearts like yours and mine That hope and hold life sweet. For love is a path of light Dispelling the jaded gloam, And all men find the peace they crave When they answer the call of home. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...COMING HOME AT TWILIGHT IN LATE SUMMER by JANE KENYON THE NEGATIVES by PHILIP LEVINE THE WATER'S CHANT by PHILIP LEVINE THE EXILE'S RETURN by ROBERT LOWELL THE RETURN by EDGAR LEE MASTERS TAKING THE TRAIN HOME by WILLIAM MATTHEWS |
