COME DOON THE HOWM, by HUGH C. WILSON First Line: Come doon the howm and meet me by the gate o' rustic spars Last Line: Then doon the howm, come doon the howm, and meet me by the spars. Subject(s): Forests; Woods | ||||||||
COME doon the howm and meet me by the gate o' rustic spars; Above our heads the spreading tree, above the tree the stars. We'll track the verdant woodland path among the hazels green, Where hunters stalk at morning hour, and rabbits whid at e'en. Then doon the howm, come doon the howm, where peep the early stars; Then doon the howm, come doon the howm, and meet me by the spars. Come doon the howm and meet me, love, when song-birds leave the spray, And list the brisk and dauntless song among the rising hay. The corncraik woos and wins his mate with rude untutor'd art, And bids me tell with simple faith the feelings of my heart. Then doon the howm, come doon the howm, when peep the early stars; Then doon the howm, come doon the howm, and meet me by the spars. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE PRINCESS WAKES IN THE WOOD by RANDALL JARRELL CHAMBER MUSIC: 20 by JAMES JOYCE ADVICE TO A FOREST by MAXWELL BODENHEIM A SOUTH CAROLINA FOREST by AMY LOWELL JOY IN THE WOODS by CLAUDE MCKAY IN BLACKWATER WOODS by MARY OLIVER THE PLACE I WANT TO GET BACK TO by MARY OLIVER NE'ER JAUP ANITHER'S FACE WI' GLAUR by HUGH C.
