A VERY NICE PAIR, by ANONYMOUS First Line: Two magpies sat on a garden wall Last Line: And the other little magpie's tail Subject(s): Birds;magpies;tails | ||||||||
TWO magpies sat on a garden wall, As it might be Wednesday week; And one little magpie wagged his tail In the other little magpie's beak. And doubling like a fist his little claw-hand, Said this other: "Upon my word, This is more than flesh and blood can stand, Of magpie or any other bird." So they picked and they scratched each other's little eyes, Till all that was left on the rail Was the beak of one of the little magpies, And the other little magpie's tail. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PREHISTORIC SMITH; QUATERNARY EPOCH - POST-PLIOCENE PERIOD by DAVID LAW PROUDFIT THE END OF IT by JOHN BANISTER TABB TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS "'TIS MIDNIGHT, AND THE SETTING SUN" by ANONYMOUS "'TWAS ROLLOG, AND THE MINIM POTES" by ANONYMOUS 1648 : FOR COSSACKS by ANONYMOUS A CHERRY YEAR / A MERRY YEAR by ANONYMOUS A COMET FROM THE RHYMERS' CLUB AFAR by ANONYMOUS "A FOX, A FOX, UP GALLANTS TO THE FIELDS" by ANONYMOUS |
