VERILY, verily that day shall come That rounds the sum of worldly destinies. Then shall the gold-browed empyrean rend His crammed repository. Flame, long-stored, In fury shall consume the face of the earth And the hung heavens; till, the whole being spent, Deep-hollowed ocean shall be seen no more, No more the earth, her last foundations fled, And no bird float upon the burning air. This done, who shattered all, shall all restore. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ON ETHNIC DEFINITIONS by ELEANOR WILNER THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN AND HELL by WILLIAM BLAKE THE END OF THE WORLD by GORDON BOTTOMLEY 1X1 (ONE TIMES ONE): 20 by EDWARD ESTLIN CUMMINGS ONCE BY THE PACIFIC by ROBERT FROST TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
