DREAM, dream, Perfume-laden one! Twilight falls softly on thee; Dream, gleam, Shadows creep and run, Gloaming falls upon thee! Whence the charm born ere the night, White-robed, with heart gold-bright? Tell the secret of the glow The afterglow: Petals dimly pale still there, Gleaming faintly, waning fair, Vanished, all, all go! Still the flower asleep Rocked by wind and tide Dreams doth keep. Gleam, gleam, Fairy figures glide O'er paths to starland; Gleam, dream, Shadow faces smile Fading the while Through the dusky twilight, Bringing love's own far land, Faintly bright, Drowsy in dream! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN VARIATIONS: 18 by CONRAD AIKEN LIVE IT THROUGH by DAVID IGNATOW A DREAM OF GAMES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE DREAM OF WAKING by RANDALL JARRELL APOLOGY FOR BAD DREAMS by ROBINSON JEFFERS GIVE YOUR WISH LIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
