The Stilton, sir, the cheese, the O.K. thing to do, On Sunday afternoon, is to toddle to the Zoo; Week days may do for cads, but not for me and you, So dress'd, right down the road we show them who is who. Chorus Walking in the Zoo, walking in the Zoo, The O.K. thing on Sunday is walking in the Zoo. So when there came to town my pretty cousin Loo, I took her off to spend a Sunday at the Zoo; I showed her the aquarium, the Tiger, the Zebu, The Elephant, the Eland, that cuss -- the Kangaroo. Oh! walking in the Zoo, walking in the Zoo, The monkeys put us to the blush on Sunday at the Zoo. So into the monkey house, going in to woo, Piling up the agony, swearing to be true, Agony, indeed, for the cheerful cockatoo Caught my ear a nip and bit it through and through. Oh! that cheerful cockatoo, that awful cockatoo, The horror and the agony, that Sunday in the Zoo. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DAT GAL O' MINE by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON SUNDAY: NEW GUINEA by KARL SHAPIRO SABBATHS: 2001 by WENDELL BERRY SUNDAYSUNDAYSUNDAYSUNDAYSUNDAY by PAUL BLACKBURN THE SABBATH OF THE SOUL by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
