BRIGHT WORDS, by ERIS GOFF First Line: They floated through a purple haze of light Last Line: A bright wing like his word upon the ground. Subject(s): Language; Words; Vocabulary | |||
They floated through a purple haze of light Unknowing whither, bright winged in the skies -- A lazy, whirling drift of butterflies; Then suddenly to some unfathomed height Through eddies of gold circles winged their flight; Like fragile bits of rainbow mist they rise Into the birds' and flowers' paradise. Their wings transcribe the melody of night. Like lilies, April christened, blossom bound And delicately shaped, whose cosmic mind Has found expression in the perfume shrined, The fragile wings and dainty colors find Expression as God's mind, for I have found A bright wing like His word upon the ground. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HOWYOUBEENS' by TERRANCE HAYES MY LIFE: REASON LOOKS FOR TWO, THEN ARRANGES IT FROM THERE by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: THE BEST WORDS by LYN HEJINIAN WRITING IS AN AID TO MEMORY: 17 by LYN HEJINIAN CANADA IN ENGLISH by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA THERE IS NO WORD by TONY HOAGLAND CONSIDERED SPEECH by JOHN HOLLANDER AND MOST OF ALL, I WANNA THANK ?Ǫ by JOHN HOLLANDER |
