TIME IS A PRIEST, by ERIS GOFF First Line: Old father time must don his april gown Last Line: And I behold all beauty in his eyes. Subject(s): Time | ||||||||
Old Father Time must don his April gown, And wear a vernal rainbow for a crown. When wild bird medleys filter through the hills, He counts a rosary of daffodils. Then June, a nun, shall draw a golden thread Of sunlight, straight from God to weave and spread A carpet, bright with flowers for his feet To make his garment fragrant and complete. From hidden nooks the spires of incense rise; And I behold all beauty in his eyes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ELEVEN EYES: FINAL SECTION by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: COME OCTOBER by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: TIME IS FILLED by LYN HEJINIAN SLOWLY: I FREQUENTLY SLOWLY WISH by LYN HEJINIAN ALL THE DIFFICULT HOURS AND MINUTES by JANE HIRSHFIELD A DAY IS VAST by JANE HIRSHFIELD FROM THIS HEIGHT by TONY HOAGLAND |
