WOMAN'S SONG, by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV Poet's Biography First Line: Winds are blowing Last Line: Sorrow's no sorrow. | |||
WINDS are blowing, Rough winds boisterous, Clouds advancing, Cloudy darknesses; And the bright world Disappears wholly, And the fair sun Disappears wholly. In the damp mist Nought but vaporous Night behind it Comes on darkening. In this season Of foul weather Living alone Gives the heart a chill. What he needs is Another bosom, A burning soul, A fair maiden. With her, winter Is warm summer, In bad fortune Sorrow's no sorrow. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AN OLD MAN'S SONG by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV OLD MAN'S SONG by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV SONG by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV THE NIGHTINGALE by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV THE LOVE POEM by KAREN SWENSON AMBITION AND CONTENT; A FABLE by MARK AKENSIDE DANUBE AND THE EUXINE by WILLIAM EDMONSTOUNE AYTOUN THE WHITE EAGLE by HARRY RANDOLPH BLYTHE AUTUMN SUNSET ON THE SIERRA NEVADAS by DOROTHY BOARDMAN REFLECTIONS ON MY OWN SITUATION, WRITTEN IN T-TT-NGST-NE HOUSE by ANN CANDLER TOWARDS DEMOCRACY: PART 4.
