The poppy fields are mine today For me to claim! They are my own In all their happy, rich array! The poppy fields are mine today! With lark on wing with roundelay, A rune the joyous hours intone, The poppy fields are mine today! For me to claim. They are my own. For my own joy these flowers gay In virgin gold are world-wide sown On highland, lowland, roadside way. For my own joy these flowers gay From sunshine's warmth delight convey. They treasure beauty's worth alone For my own joy. These flowers gay In virgin gold are world-wide sown. Enchanted by this grand display I feel a king! The world, my throne, Is gorgeously for royal sway Enchanted! By this grand display Is holding me each wondrous ray, Each mile of wealth so freely grown Enchanted by this grand display, I feel a king, the world, my throne. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE STUDY OF HAPPINESS by KENNETH KOCH SO MUCH HAPPINESS by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE CROWD CONDITIONS by JOHN ASHBERY I WILL NOT BE CLAIMED by MARVIN BELL THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#21): 1.
