RETRIBUTION, by
First Line: Teardrops splash the windows of the soul
Last Line: To prove a heart has broken—died—and bled!
Subject(s): Grief; Tears; Sorrow; Sadness

Teardrops splash the windows of the soul,
Loosed miseries from bleeding heart unfold
The furies of a soul well sered;
Tortured with unhappiness not feared.
Eyes that smart and burn, sight blurred,
Dispel an anguish much too deep for word.
A longing inarticulate; regret
That pours in torrents from a heart beset
With tempestual emotion; finding vent
From pain, that only by a grief is spent,
From ache that knows no recompense,
From weight so great it dulls each sense.
A miracle these tears be not of red ....
To prove a heart has broken—died—and bled!
