BALTIMORE ORIOLE, by
First Line: An oriole made / his flaming flight
Last Line: In the dusky pine.
Subject(s): Animals; Birds; Orioles; Wings

An oriole made
His flaming flight
Through my garden trees.
And swiftly a light
Illumined an elm.
Like a wind-blown torch
It flared from an oak.
Then I saw him scorch
The half-grown leaves
In the trumpet vine
And start his fires
In the dusky pine.
