She goes
A hushful, peaceful thing
On her way toward night—
Deep night!

Clandestinely they ever meet
Where mortal eyes have never seen.

Some call
In hopes of stopping her,
They do not know her love—
Deep night!

Her breathless beauty sweeps the earth
As she—soft light—melts into night.
