SURVIVAL, by FLOZARI ROCKWOOD First Line: Once more a tyrant tries to crush to earth Last Line: To help all creeds to live in perfect peace. Alternate Author Name(s): Sutton-hemingway, Flozari Subject(s): Peace | |||
Once more a tyrant tries to crush to earth A race whose only fault appears to be The right to worship, as their laws decree; Inherited by them at time of birth. Keen persecution cannot kill their mirth, Nor shadow, long, inborn philosophy; Because through faith they hold a secret key; And know once more that they shall prove their worth. When empires fall, and tyrants mold in dust, And scorners pass beyond the pale of day, God's chosen ones again shall find release, because their heritage foretells they must Rise up, supreme, and wisely lead the way To help all creeds to live in perfect peace. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HOW MANY NIGHTS by GALWAY KINNELL THE MOTTO by LOUISA SARAH BEVINGTON THE TRUE BEATITUDE by RUPERT BROOKE MAKING PEACE by DENISE LEVERTOV TWO SONGS OF PEACE: 1 by YEHUDA AMICHAI |
