THE SOUL SPEAKS, by SARA ADLER ROSALSKY First Line: I shall discover; I shall know Last Line: This gift from god ... To his somewhere.... Subject(s): Soul | |||
I shall discover; I shall know -- The reasons for me ... and, where I go ... Through mists of fears I rise and fall -- Obedient to bidding beyond it all.... I, who have died a thousand times Upon false crosses, live! And climb! With boundless reach ... with groping prayer ... Strangely, move toward some birth, somewhere ... I leave the graves of blood and pain ... I go from death, to love again.... No end to me! This Soul must bear This gift from God ... to His Somewhere.... | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE CRUEL FALCON by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE WHOLE SOUL by PHILIP LEVINE I KNOW MY SOUL by CLAUDE MCKAY HONORING THE SAND; IN MEMORY OF JOSEPH CAMPBELL by ROBERT BLY THE CHINESE PEAKS; FOR DONALD HALL by ROBERT BLY THE LIFE OF TOWNS: TOWN OF THE EXHUMATION by ANNE CARSON THROUGH RIVERS OF BLOOD by SARA ADLER ROSALSKY THE COCK AND THE FOX, OR THE TALE OF THE NUN'S PRIEST by GEOFFREY CHAUCER |
