THROUGH RIVERS OF BLOOD, by SARA ADLER ROSALSKY First Line: Earthlings will yet do noble things Last Line: They will achieve fraternity! Subject(s): Explorers; Exploring; Discovery; Discoverers | ||||||||
Earthlings will yet do noble things, Fear not, -- these bloody underlings . . . These uncouth, dinosaurish men, Will reach the place destined for them . . . They will put the soul's harmony, Above their fiendish revelry . . . Pass mountains of hostilities . . . Purge ugly depths of rivalries . . . Crumble, One Day, the madman's sword, One Day, I say, but O my friend, What mountings on hearts . . . what rivers of blood . . . And limbs to cross . . . to gain that end! When, after they have suffered much . . . Their hands will reach out hands to touch . . . Despite their grotesque strategy, They will achieve Fraternity! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SHACKLETON by MADELINE DEFREES AMERICA IS HARD TO SEE by ROBERT FROST CONCERNING THE RIGHT TO LIFE by JORIE GRAHAM THE HEAD ON THE TABLE by JOHN HAINES PSALM OF THE WEST: SONNET ON COLUMBUS: 1 by SIDNEY LANIER PSALM OF THE WEST: SONNET ON COLUMBUS: 2 by SIDNEY LANIER PSALM OF THE WEST: SONNET ON COLUMBUS: 3 by SIDNEY LANIER PSALM OF THE WEST: SONNET ON COLUMBUS: 4 by SIDNEY LANIER THE SOUL SPEAKS by SARA ADLER ROSALSKY |
