SUNLIT SUDS, by MARGARET WHEELER ROSS First Line: I do not see the homely kitchen sink Last Line: Catch rainbow visions in the sunlit suds. Subject(s): Housewives | ||||||||
I do not see the homely kitchen sink, Untidy with the dishes from a meal, The sparkling soap-suds in the pan reveal The pristine colors. I give thanks and drink From beauty's over-flowing cup, and think Of tinted sunsets, changing with each reel; Of purple hills the clouds of life conceal; Of velvet flower-petals, blushing pink. The faithful kettle, as it boils and steams, Is piping fairy tunes, like playful Pan; And I see diamond dew-drops, blinking buds, And morning-glories waking from their dreams, Dishwashing is not irksome if you can Catch rainbow visions in the sunlit suds. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OCCUPATION: HOUSEWIFE by PHYLLIS MCGINLEY GOODWIFE PLAYING THE VIRGINALS; AFTER A PAINTING BY DE WITTE by ELAINE TERRANOVA WASHING-DAY by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD I STOP WRITING THE POEM by TESS GALLAGHER THE FARMER'S BRIDE by CHARLOTTE MEW THE YOUNG HOUSEWIFE by WILLIAM CARLOS WILLIAMS ARIZONA by MARGARET WHEELER ROSS |
