LIFE'S VENTURE, by JESSE SILL First Line: I've followed the trail / for many a year Last Line: Our feet getting caught. Subject(s): Adventure And Adventurers; Roads; Travel; Paths; Trails; Journeys; Trips | ||||||||
I've followed the trail For many a year, Over hill and over vale Until they'd disappear. Then I'd take another And follow it through, No better than the other But I thought it would do. Thus through the years, I've gone on my way And now it appears I'm travelling the same way. A cow in a pasture Looked over the fence; She liked the picture And thought she had sense. The grass wasn't greener But the cow thought it was; Because of her demeanor She would not longer pause. I found her next day Tangled up in the wire, And to her dismay A thing she didn't desire. And thus through the years As we travel them through It forever appears, We seek a better view, And we take a course That the cow did, And come out worse. But it can't be undid, Why not be content With what we have got? And then we could prevent Our feet getting caught. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RICHARD, WHAT'S THAT NOISE? by RICHARD HOWARD LOOKING FOR THE GULF MOTEL by RICHARD BLANCO RIVERS INTO SEAS by LYNDA HULL DESTINATIONS by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE ONE WHO WAS DIFFERENT by RANDALL JARRELL THE CONFESSION OF ST.
