CHILDHOOD, by CHARLOTTE TALLEY First Line: Away in the fair, sweet country Last Line: As for sunshine that falls from above. Subject(s): Children; Childhood | ||||||||
Away in the fair, sweet country With the turquoise heavens above Where the fragrant blossoms are opening I meet my little love. Eyes under shadowing lashes Filled with wondering thought, Lips holding for me sweet kisses That bring me a pleasure unsought. Through child life a foretaste of heaven, Of innocence, purity, love, In my heart finds an eager welcome As for sunshine that falls from above. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN CHILDREN SELECTING BOOKS IN A LIBRARY by RANDALL JARRELL COME TO THE STONE ... by RANDALL JARRELL THE LOST WORLD by RANDALL JARRELL A SICK CHILD by RANDALL JARRELL CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS ON THE DEATH OF FRIENDS IN CHILDHOOD by DONALD JUSTICE THE POET AT SEVEN by DONALD JUSTICE |
