MORNING DEW, by DAISY COVIN WALKER First Line: A magic wand had brushed the earth at dawn Last Line: And drink from this eternal spring with grace. Subject(s): Morning | ||||||||
A magic wand had brushed the earth at dawn, Awakened reeds bedecked with silver spangles And dropped a million sapphires on my lawn, An evidence of beauty's mystic angles. Between four willow limbs securely clung A crystal-beaded web-like rose point lace Until the sun arose and warm rays flung A melting breath that left dim threads in place. The earth was damp as though April showers Refreshed anew the earth's repose of night; With lifted heads the face of mayflowers Defied departing mist of their delight To greet the rosy dawn with dewy face And drink from this eternal spring with grace. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MORNING SONG by KARLE WILSON BAKER THE WHARF ON THAMES-SIDE: WINTER DAWN by LAURENCE BINYON POEM BEFORE BREAKFAST by TED KOOSER I'VE BEEN ASLEEP by PHILIP LEVINE SPRNG DAY: BREAKFAST TABLE by AMY LOWELL THE WAYSIDE STATION by EDWIN MUIR |
