SONG TO NATURE, by ELISE WOODWARD First Line: I've seen the moon a blatant globe of gold Last Line: Of pulsing nature with a pagan heart. Subject(s): Nature | ||||||||
I've seen the moon a blatant globe of gold; The autumn draped defiantly in red; The sky a tombstone like a jelly mold, A granite-glinting shadow overhead. The stars have been brief bits of broken glass; Black night has pilfered all my sight from me, Still in the supple darknesses there pass, Dim shadows of each substance yet to be: White water diamonds on the sparkling sands; The gleam of sunlight in a prisoned place; The veil of time a moment in my hands Musty and rotting like a long-used lace, Then love recedes and I become a part Of pulsing nature with a pagan heart. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INTERRUPTED MEDITATION by ROBERT HASS TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN WRITING IS AN AID TO MEMORY: 17 by LYN HEJINIAN LET US GATHER IN A FLOURISHING WAY by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA IN MICHAEL ROBINS?ÇÖS CLASS MINUS ONE by HICOK.
