Last Line: A muted melody, complete?
Subject(s): Love - Nature Of; Time

Can I be sure that love is still for me?
The aftermath of passion's fire that cooled
When youth was gone. For then life held us
In a golden flame that transcends
Season. Must love be ever tried by fire and youth?
Uncertain, flaunting silly fears before the eyes?
Or is it tried by sorrow's tears?
And when you come, and that is soon,
Will seasoned memories still include
But echoes of that interlude? Or has it left
A dearer, deeper thing, a steady glow
Of constant need for one another?
A love refined by passion's heat
A muted melody, complete?
